a detailed costume view

i did make the costumes for the shoot - all but the hat (which i tweaked with some added details). if you're playing along at home, you know this started with my dress and grew from there.

for the hubby, i bought the hat - added a real feather and made the hat pins (which you can't really see in this desaturated pic). the silk (polyester) scarf was $7, goodwill jacket $6, i sewed and added the extras - pocket hanky, pocket ribbons, pocket red fabric, lacey faux sleeves, and the all-important vintage spool sash.

for dot, i made the ear-headband and basically raided my closet for the blazer and the boy's closet for the vest. thrift shop ascot for $1.

for the boy, i bought a hat and made the ears. thrift shop bowtie $1.

to clear things up

there is a journalist in our town that does photography as a side job. he does free pics for cancer patients. so on saturday, he will be doing pics of our family. he'll do a shoot in alice in wonderland theme, and a traditional set.

i picked up 2 bowties and a brown velvet jacket today. $8 total. yea!

it's hard getting back into the routine

those of you who are in on what's been going on in my life, well, you know...

i'm trying to heal. i'm trying to get costumes put together for hubby and the kids. trying to get a crazy dog acclimated to life with a cat. trying to get a 9-year-old to go outside while she's arguing with me about being out in the sun. i'm on the last disc of 'psych' season 2.

can you imagine if they tried to release soap operas on dvd? one season would be over 300 hours. and some of the shows have been on for several decades. what a waste.

getting ready for a photo shoot on saturday. getting prepared to start several weeks of treatments.
