only the closures...

and the hem left!!! i need a little input, however. which hair piece looks better or more authentic with my costume. remember, i'll be wearing it up on my head and not down by my neck. and it will be in my color, of course. and i'll have the framing curls around my face. pick one.

please welcome my latest addition...

my new baby blog!!!

www.iheartjaneausten.blogspot.com

help me welcome her to the world (wide web) and help her grow!

i'm going to grow my hair out again

by tomorrow. no, just kidding! by i do want to grow it out for reals.
so here's what i made last night:
is it regency enough for you? i paired the pendant to the chain and added the crystal accents. i like the tarnished silver look to go with my black earrings and the black trim on my dress.

watching the great gatsby

i don't know why. i guess i forgot how depressing it is. and i whipped this up. i don't think i'm quite done with it. but it's good as is. yes, it's jane. or supposed to be. i'm thinking of adding arms and just gluing them in place. what do you think?

so i've got fay crashing at my door...

and a baby shower to go to tomorrow. i hate the thought of leaving the house in a tropical storm. yes, i've known about this baby shower for weeks. no, we haven't had any money for weeks. so i put my powers to the test, revved up the old sewing machine and here's what i came up with...
a changing pad made from a fresh tea towel, batting, and a blue jean backing. you just roll it up and tie it shut. throw in some matching infant hats i made for my etsy shop and viola!

i'm back in the swing

i'm in full party planning mode. what party? my halloween party! my costume is so close to completion that i've started helping my friends with their costumes. it took me a day and a half, but i finished 'girl with a pearl earring'. i think they got the movie dead on. anyway. we had one day of school and then 2 days off for the hurricane that didn't come. i'm not disappointed, just aggravated about 2 lost days of school. now we'll have school the day before thanksgiving, but probably an early release. this isn't even interesting.

so, my gal, shannon, wants to be mrs. lovett this year (see above pic), i found one fan's interpretation of the costume and think that she got a good (simpler) knock-off that will be 'easy' (i never make things easy), yet still totally have the same effect. (see pic below)
dirty-dyed skirt and an altered blazer. easy peasy lemon squeazy.

almost done!!!

so, i'm not quite done. i still have to put the black trim along the bottom of the bodice and along the hemline. why black? well, halloween, you know. what do you think? i've made this completely from 'scratch'. all by myself. is it regency enough? i had to take in my dress form cover because, if you remember, she was about 4" larger than me at any given point. it may not seem like much, but i was really struggling to put my clothes on her. i was starting to wish i had gotten the smaller model, and feeling sick about it. but now, after some easy modifications and some wrestling around on the floor to get the cover back on, she's only about 1" larger than me and i easily got the dress on her. and i feel much better.

yesterday was sweet lime day...

BUY ME!!

last night i did some knitting to relieve my headache. today is sewing day. i bought the rest (fingers crossed) of the ribbon and trim i needed to finish (fingers still crossed). i don't have a pic yet (mom) because it looks more like little red riding hood the way it's laying over my dress form. i found a great new website. it's http://www.paperbackswap.com/index.php you enter all the books you're done with and if anyone wants them, you mail your book to them and you get a credit on the site to 'buy' a book from someone else. it's all free, except for the postage on books people buy from you. if you list 10 books when you sign up, you get 2 credits. 1 credit = 1 book. i'll let you know how that works out.

eerie...

remember hallie kate eisenberg? she did those pepsi commercials. she was born august 1992. i was over at a friend of my husband's and in the teen daughter's room was a poster of nick jonas, born september 1992. do you see the eerie resemblance?
